A Homesteaders Dream Pig.

Available KuneKunes

JUNE 2024 Babies have arrived! Hans and Maggie had a litter of 9-these are our larger KuneKunes with 200lbs in 12 months bloodlines, and champion pedigree. Breeding stock from this litter are $500, barrows $200

More breedings planned this summer if you would like babies from separate litters. Babies are akkps registered, vaccinated, have their parasite preventative and are DNA.

Chances are, if you’re here, you’ve done some research on pig breeds. I won’t bore you with all the facts, you can find them on the akkps registry website or the ekpa website.

What I WILL tell you is OUR experience with the breed!

We have found the KuneKunes inherently kind, friendly, and easy to mix with our other animal species on the farm.

Being a woman this was a must for me.

The KuneKune pens have chickens, cats, goats, mini horses, etc. all roaming around, and they all co-mingle just fine!

What a difference from when I was a child and my family raised traditional hogs -if a chicken hopped into THEIR pen it was quickly killed by them and eaten! Horrifying!

It took me a long time and alot of research to come around to the idea of pigs, and KuneKunes kept coming up as the answer. Friendly, manageable size, minimal rooting if any, no damage to the pastures, and they graze like a cow. It is a true delight to see the Kunes out in the pasture happily grazing away.

Their meat, if processed, is red like a steak, and their fat profile is full of omegas and healthy fats when pastured.

OH, and the lard!!! A pastry chefs dream. Beautiful, flaky pie crusts made with healthy fat rather than the icky hydrogenated store stuff.

If you’ve been considering a KuneKune, there’s no time like today to get the process started.

  • Babies

We offer young KuneKune pairs as they are weaned, typically in the summer/Fall Months. They are DNA tested, weaned, treated with parasite preventative, vaccinated, and males are neutered by our vet.

  • Adults

On occasion we offer registered, DNA tested, started pigs, or adults to great homes. We keep a waiting list of families looking for older, or started pigs, if you’de like to be added let us know!

  • Bacon seeds to grow yourself.

For any serious breeder looking to improve the breed, there will always be some that don’t make the cut to reproduce. We do at times offer small groups to people interested in growing their own home grown pork. All our KuneKunes are registered, but these ones do not go with papers.
